Jeudi 1^er mars :                9h30 – 12h30      Languedoc Jelly  

Si vous êtes travailleur à domicile, pourquoi ne pas changer d’environnement pour venir rencontrer quelques « confrères » à Tea Potes le 1^er mars.  Une matinée libre organisée par Jelly qui vous donne à la fois l’occasion de « co-travailler » ailleurs et de rencontrer d’autres personnes qui travaillent depuis chez eux ou en freelance. Jelly propose une session ouverte à toutes les nationalités qui sera une excellente occasion de rencontrer d’autres entrepreneurs et de développer de manière informelle votre réseau  professionnel. Club Tricot – Pippa Forster, qui est très gentiment venue nous montrer ses créations tricot, va nous emmener à la découverte du magasin d’usine Annie Blatt à Orange. Prévoir la journée et un pique-nique. Nous ferons du covoiturage. Rendez-vous au parking d’Anduze près du pont submersible à 9h00. Pour la coordination: Aline 06 45 99 68 37

16h00 Vernissage d’Isis Olivier

Nous allons exposer une nouvelle artiste à Tea Potes – Isis Olivier. Isis va exposer une sélection de petites œuvres, peintures à l’huile et estampes. Venez admirer ses œuvres tout en dégustant une spécialité anglaise – notre ‘cream tea’.

 

Vendredi 16 mars :         14h30 – 16h00 Book Club (anglais), nous discuterons ‘The Secret Scripture’ par l’auteur irlandais Sebastian Barry.

 

Samedi 17 mars :            

.   14h30 – 16h00 Présentation sur la Camargue par Robert Faure (en français et en anglais). 

Robert  va nous parler des origines de la course libre devenue camarguaise en 1975, de la création de la Nacioun Gardiano en 1909 initiée par le Folco de Baroncelli et les grandes familles de la région dont la famille Guillierme. Les premières impressions et émotions de Fanfonne pour les traditions camarguaises. Les grands gardians qui ont accompagné Fanfonne.

.   A partir de 16h00 – Fête de la Bière, sur la Place Notre Dame pour l’ouverture de TIFFE TAFFE. Une nouvelle cave à bière tenue par Sylvie Jausseran. A l’occasion de la St Patrick vous pourriez déguster des spécialités irlandaises, de la bière bien sûr, écouter la musique celtique et passer une soirée très verte !

Samedi 24 mars:              14h30 – 16h30 The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare (en anglais et sans sous-titres). Une production commedia dell’arte du American Conservatory Theatre. Terry Crane va nous faire une petite introduction avant le film.

 

Vendredi 30 mars:          14h30 – 16h00 Club Débat (en anglais). Kate McGuinness mènera le débat et le sujet sera :

 ‘Has advertising changed women’s perceptions of themselves for better or worse?’

 

Samedi 31 mars :             14h30 Autour des Plantes Précieuses – Bienêtre et Santé, par Marie d’Hennezel du Jardin de Mazet près de Monoblet.  Lancement de Tis’Up (boisson bio à base de tisanes et jus de fruits) à Tea Potes.

 

Divers :

• Tea Potes développe sa gamme de produits bio et ses pratiques respectueuses de l’environnement. Nous avons investi dans une nouvelle machine à café et utiliserons un café bio et de commerce équitable fourni par Café Halter qui vient d’ouvrir rue de la République à Anduze.
• Tea Potes voudrait vous proposer un service de centralisation pour covoiturage lors des déplacements à Nîmes ou à Montpellier quand vous devez aller chercher du monde.  Appelez-nous ou envoyez-nous un mail si vous avez quelqu’un à aller chercher et nous pourrons vous mettre en relation avec d’autres personnes devant faire le même trajet.

Thursday 1^st March:                        9h30 – 12h30      Languedoc Jelly – A co-working event  

If you normally work from home, why not have a change of scene and meet some new people at Tea Potes on 1^st March.  A free Jelly ‘co-working’ event is taking place, which gives you the chance to simply ‘work somewhere different’ and meet other home-workers and freelancers at the same time. Jelly is open and accessible to all nationalities.  It’s a great chance to meet a diverse group of business people and develop your own informal business support network. Knitting Club – Pippa Forster, who very kindly came to our knitting club to show us some examples of her beautiful work, will be taking us to the Annie Blatt Factory Outlet shop near Orange. It will be a day trip. Leaving from Anduze car park (near submersible bridge) at 9 am (bring a picnic lunch). We will be organizing a car-share to take the least number of cars. Saturday 10^th March:                     10h30 Dutch Coffee Morning (it will now be the second Saturday of each month).

16h00 ‘Vernissage’ Isis Olivier. 

We will be exhibiting a new artist at Tea Potes – Isis Olivier. Isis will be exhibiting recent oil paintings and prints. Come and admire the artwork whilst enjoying one of our cream teas.

Friday 16^th March:                          14h30 – 16h00 Book Club, we will be discussing ‘The Secret Scripture’ by the Irish author Sebastian Barry.

Saturday 17^th March:                     14h30 – 16h00 Presentation on the Camargue by Robert Faure (in French and in English). Robert Faure has written extensively on the Camargue and will be talking about the bull games, the families involved in traditional games and about Fanfonne Guillierme in particular.

From 16h00 – A Beer Fête – launch party for TIFFE TAFFE.  A new beer cellar opening in the Place Notre Dame by Sylvie Jausseran. We will be having a place party for the launch, coinciding with St Patrick’s Day – there will be Irish specialties, beer, Irish music and plenty of green.

Friday 23^rd March:                          14h30 Knitting Club

Saturday 24^th March:                     14h30 – 16h30 The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare (no French subtitles). San Francisco’s prize-winning American Conservatory Theatre’s rowdy commedia dell’arte production incorporates slapstick and earthy humour. Terry Crane will be introducing the film.

Friday 30^th March:                          14h30 – 16h00 Debating Society. Kate McGuinness will be the chair and the motion will be: ‘Has advertising changed women’s perceptions of themselves for better or worse?’

Saturday 31^st March:                     14h30 Herbal plants – Health and Well-being. A presentation by Marie d’Hennezel from the Jardins de Mazet.  Marie will be talking about the herbal plants she grows and how to use them. Tea Potes is also happy to be launching the sale of Tis’Up – her organic drinks made from herbal tea and fruit juice.

General :

• Tea Potes is developing its organic range and environmentally respectful practices. We have invested in a new coffee machine which will be using coffee supplied by Café Halter just round the corner from the shop. Café Halter specializes in organic, free trade coffee.
• Tea Potes would like to propose a centralized car share service for people doing pick-ups in Nimes and Montpellier. If you are planning to go and fetch family or friends, give us a ring or send us an email and we can put you in touch with others in our area doing the same trip.

Vendredi 3 février

10h00 – 11h30  Atelier Sophrologie avec Agatha Lescaut.

La sophrologie est une méthode de relaxation dynamique qui allie exercices corporels simples, respirations, visualisations.

Sa pratique régulière offre la possibilité à chacun de : préserver sa vitalité, sa santé,  développer ses potentiels et ses capacités d’adaptation, se sentir mieux dans son corps et dans sa relation aux autres, se découvrir, s’épanouir, se rencontrer…C’est un bon outil de gestion du stress.

Sylvie vous aidera à créer des bijoux avec sa belle collection de perles ou vous aidera à réparer vos colliers cassés. Une participation financière sera demandée pour le coût des perles.

Samedi 25 février   15h00 – 17h00 Alex Duncan un concert intime

Alex joue la guitare depuis l’âge de 14 ans, actuellement il joue du blues-folk acoustique. Il a une  collection de compositions à lui « works in progress » qu’il aime jouer pour des petits groupes. Alex jouera également quelques-uns de ses morceaux préférés d’autres artistes comme Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Reid et The Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

Sophrology is a method of relaxation which combines simple physical exercise, breathing and visual projections. Regular practice helps preserve vitality and health and develops your potential for adaptation. It enables you to feel better in your body and in your relationships and to learn more about yourself. It is a good way of relieving stress.

Alex has played the guitar since the age of 14, he is now playing acoustic blues-folk. Alex will also play some of his favourite covers by artists such as, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Reid and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

David et Caroline ont décidé de retourner vivre en Angleterre l’année prochaine. Caroline va se retirer de Tea Potes à partir du 1^er janvier 2012 et nous sommes ravies qu’Amanda Hemming va devenir la nouvelle associé d’Aline à partir de cette date. Ce sera avec grand plaisir que nous vous la présenterons en janvier.

Tea Potes sera ouvert à nouveau après les vacances de fin d’année le mardi 3 janvier 2012.

14h30 – 15h30 Nous démarrons un nouveau groupe de Conversation français / anglais et allons  contacter les personnes sur notre liste d’attente.

16h45-17-45  Le groupe de Conversation en anglais avec Terry pour les collégiens.

Terry, professeur d’école américaine à la retraite, s’est très gentiment proposé de venir animer un groupe de conversation anglais à Tea Potes pour les enfants. Cela se tiendra le mardi de 16h45 à 17h45. Elle va habituer les enfants à entendre l’anglais, à jouer et à chanter en anglais et à s’exprimer sur des sujets de tous les jours.  Nous ne pouvons pas prendre la responsabilité de vos enfants en votre absence, donc nous vous demanderons de rester au rez-de-chaussée pendant que les enfants suivent le groupe de conversation à l’étage. La participation au groupe est gratuite, par contre nous vous remercions de bien vouloir prendre une consommation en les attendant et vous aurez peut être envie de discuter avec nous en anglais en même temps !!  Pour ce démarrage, nous acceptons des enfants de tout âge mais qui ont déjà quelques notions d’anglais.

Samedi 28 janvier

10h00 – 12h00  Atelier Ka avec Roger Josephau.  Roger est originaire de la Guadeloupe, il joue le Gwoka (ensemble de rythmes joué sur le Ka) depuis l’âge de 6 ans. Il va nous faire la démonstration des techniques et apporter plusieurs tambours Ka pour que vous puissiez essayer.

David & Caroline have decided to move back to the UK next Year. Caroline will be retiring from Tea Potes from 1^st January 2012 and we are delighted that Amanda Hemming has agreed to join Aline as from this date. We look forward to introducing her to all clients in January.

 

Tea Potes will reopen on Tuesday 3rd January 2012 after the Christmas break.

14h30 – 15h30 We are opening a new French / English conversation class and will be contacting those of you on our waiting list.

16h45-17-45  Terry’s English Conversation for Middle School Students.

Terry, a retired teacher, has very kindly offered to help organize English conversation for a group of middle school pupils at Tea Potes. The group will meet every Tuesday and will learn English through play, song and conversation.    We cannot take responsibility of your children in your absence, so will ask the parents to remain downstairs whilst your children are with Terry upstairs. There will be no payment required but you will be able to order something from our menu whilst you are waiting. You could always speak to us in English at the same time !!

10h00 – 12h00  Ka Workshop with Roger Josephau.  Roger  is from the Guadeloupe, he has played  Gwoka (the group of rhythms played on the Ka) since the age of 6.  He will give us a demonstration of the techniques and will bring several Ka drums for you to have a try.

TEA POTES SPECIAL EVENT WEDNESDAY 10^TH AUGUST AT 19.30    JAZZ CONCERT WITH JOHN LAW AND NICK SORENSEN   

 

 

 

Wednesday the 10th August  at 19.30

John Law, very well-known pianist from England (“One of the giants of modern British jazz piano” New York) will be coming to the cafe Tea Potes, Anduze, in a duo with the British saxophonist Nick Sorensen, to gove a jazz concert.

They’ll be presenting a journey through the world of standard jazz songs.. with energy and imagination.. and also with some added percussion! Playing well-known material, not just from the American jazz tradition but also with some British pop tunes as well (like Beatles, Sting, Nick Drake, Kate Bush) but everything with lots of spontaneity, creativity, spirit and rhythm!

The concert takes place at the cafe Tea Potes, Place Notre Dame, Anduze, starting at 19.30. Entrance is free but there’ll be a voluntary contribution for the musicians after the concert.

Isabelle was our first first client through the door on 1^st July last year.  She had the wonderful idea of celebrating our first birthday with one of her theatrical productions – PIERRE QUI POUSSE

 

In one corner there is a stone. A very old stone. It’s been there for a very long time. Filled with mineral memories and of images that could have been. And then, suddenly, a fissure appears, a slight tremble. Followed by the need to vibrate. Tto vibrate like the violin chords that are playing just nearby. An irresistible hunger to breathe the air and to gain consciousness.

The stone transforms slowly before our eyes. Going  from stage to stage, from short bursts of change to subtle metamorphosis, transforming into different characters, through grotesque or magnificent shapes, like a moving statue, inspired by our shared memories. Memories, archetypes, unchanging figures that we all know so well, but which we all imagine in different ways :

Mother spider, the stupid snail, the tree knight, the ivy girl, the Spanish butterfly, etc and right at the end a cloud, a breeze, a look absorbed by the sun.

The mineral transforms into vegetable, then animal and at the end into nothing.

Isabelle etait notre toute premiere cliente a Tea potes le premier juillet l’annee derniere.  Elle a l’excellente idee de feter notre premier anniversaire avec une de ses productions Theatrales.  PIERRE QUI POUSSE

 

Dans un coin, une pierre. Très vieille. Là, depuis bien longtemps. Emplie de mémoire minérale etd’images qui auraient pu être. Et puis, un instant, une fissure, un mince tremblement. Apparaît alors l’envie de vibrer, comme au son des cordes du violon qui chante près d’elle. Une envie irrésistible de souffle, d’air et d’esprit. La pierre se transforme, lentement, sous nos yeux. Passant d’étape en étape, de chocs brefs en métamorphoses subtiles et lentes, par différents personnages, aux formes grotesques ou magnifiques, telles une statue mobile, puisant sa source dans nos souvenirs. Souvenirs, archétypes, figures immuables que nous connaissons tous, mais que chacun peut interpréter à sa façon: la mère-araignée, l’idiot-escargot, l’arbre-cavalier, le lierre-jeune fille, l’espagnole-papillon, etc… et pour finir nuage, brise, regard aspiré par le soleil.

Du minéral, nous voici passés par le végétal, par l’animal et pour finir: rien

Little Mouck, an unlucky young man, finds himself in a very strange old woman’s house looking after her cats…He soon has to make his escape but he takes with him two objects : a pair of slippers and a walking stick. He discovers that they are magic objects and a comical tale ensues …

‘TAKING BETTER PHOTOGRAPHS’  workshop with Sandy Lobban

‘Photography is a means by which we can plan and capture an image so that it conveys a specific meaning to the viewer, ideally, in a unique and imaginative way. The emphasis of our day course, ‘Taking Better Photographs,’ will be on planning and composition of our photographs and will hopefully give you some options to consider in the future, which will help to enhance your skills and give you pleasure from the results.’

Tea Potes are delighted to welcome ‘Intimate Voices’ ‘A small chamber choir from London who will be performing a concert of  light music in the open air in Place Notre Dame, outside Tea Potes. The programme of music will include:

Bratton – The Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Turner – Tequila Samba
Glover-Kind – I do like to be beside the seaside
Bridge – The Goslings
Golden Slumbers/Marble Halls
among others!

In the evening ‘Intimate Voices’ will be performing at the Temple in Anduze at 8.30.  The performance will include madrigals sung in both French and English.

Book Club ‘Bruges-la-Morte by Georges Rodenbach

 

We are delighted  to exhibit and have for sale  the work of Maya Brudieux at Tea Potes.

Maya is a trained architect who learnt drawing at art school. Her present work demonstrates a desire to ‘unlearn’ her professional training, to free her spirit and let her imagination take over.

She is inspired by the teachings of Henry Miller who speaks in his book of “rediscovering the innocence of children”. She aims to ‘rediscover’ this lost innocence through the inspiration acquired during her travels and through Nature. Her inspiration comes from her admiration of Japanand Nature in general. The world she creates is a fantastical one where all-powerful Nature holds the central role.

She attempts to show another reality, verging on the magical, created by her unleashed imagination. She juxtaposes situations that are often paradoxical in order to question what we consider Reality and to create her own.

These are small paintings are produced on MDF using various stenciling techniques. Acrylic paint, Indian ink, coloured pencils, felt-tip pens or pastels are the media she uses to create unusual textures, shapes ands atmosphere

Apprendre les bases. Avec la composition photographique, le cadrage du sujet, l’éclairage et le fonctionnement de votre appareil photo.

Une journée passée avec Sandy où il combinera théorie et pratique (dans et autour d’Anduze) dans un cadre informel – maximum 8 personnes.  Cette journée  vous permettra de mieux comprendre les bases pour avoir de meilleurs résultats photographiques, vous allez mieux planifier la photo, pouvoir utiliser plus de fonctions sur votre appareil photo et recevoir un avis sur vos résultats.

 Tea Potes est ravi d’exposer les œuvres de Maya Brudieux depuis 15 jours.

Maya est architecte de formation, elle a apprit à maîtriser les différentes techniques de dessin dans un atelier d’arts plastiques. Elle veut maintenant  ”désapprendre” le coup de crayon professionnel, pour laisser son esprit, son imagination s’affirmer.

Elle s’inspire des enseignements d’Henry Miller qui parle dans son livre de “retrouver l’innocence des enfants”.

Elle s’efforce de ‘retrouver’ cette innocence perdue en s’inspirant de ses voyages et de la Nature. Ses peintures s’inspirent de son attrait pour le Japon et de tout ce qui touche à la Nature. Ainsi ce monde qu’elle crée est un monde fantastique où la Nature toute puissante tient un rôle central.

Elle tente d’illustrer une autre réalité, presque magique, où son imaginaire est libéré. Elle mélange ainsi des situations souvent antinomiques pour remettre en question ce que l’on définit de Réalité et pour créer la sienne.

Ces petites peintures sont réalisées sur un support MDF, où elle utilise différentes techniques autour du pochoir. Ainsi l’acrylique, l’encre de chine, les crayons de couleurs, les feutres ou les pastels sont autant de langages qui lui permettent de créer des textures, des formes, des atmosphères particulières

L’Atelier du Café is a micro-roastery situated in Rochegude (30430), Gard in the south of France. This project was born from a lifelong passion and a desire to get back into roasting coffee.  I also wanted to integrate my business with my family life, and so maintain a healthy balance between professional and personal time. Hence, the creation of this roasting workshop.  I focus on a small palette of delicious, gourmet Organic and Fair Trade coffees, hand roasted with a lot of care in order to create a more original experience for my customer”

C’est avec grand plaisir que nous accueillons Dominique Whitehead qui lancera la vente de son café à Tea Potes.
L’Atelier du Café est une micro-brûlerie située à Rochegude (30430) dans le Gard. Son projet d’un atelier de torréfaction est né d’une passion qu’elle a toujours eu pour le café et une envie de travailler dans le domaine de la torréfaction du café.
